Cat5 cable, more formally Category 5 cable, is primarily a networking cable. It uses "twisted pair" wiring (as opposed to a solid wire (like coax). Another difference from other cable types is the lack of shielding. The twisting of the pairs of wires reduces interference, even when multiple Cat5 cables run in parallel. The cable uses an RJ-45 connector at both ends.
